It’s getting spooky around our farmhouse! I thought I’d share a quick Halloween farmhouse tour of our home this October. I hope you’ll find some halloween decor inspiration along the way!
October is my favorite month of the year and I’m a huge Halloween fan so when this time of year rolls around and that air gets crisp, I’m pulling out ALL the fall decor!
I’ve collected pieces over the years and some figurines were even from my childhood. I love pieces with a story and holiday decor that matches the aesthetic of our old farmhouse!

It’s never “perfect” over here and it’s always far from where I envision it but it’s real life and we’re enjoying making memories along the way. I hope you enjoy this tour and the message behind it. Keep it simple, sweet and savor this glorious season!
Welcome to our Halloween Farmhouse Tour!
On the back porch, where all the best country guests visit, I focused on the spooky decor with tombstones, skulls and creepy cloth. I wanted it to be eerie, yet colorful and inviting.
My kids LOVE halloween like I do and they were so excited to see this setup on the back porch! I had so much fun picking out pumpkins this fall. I always love to pick through a farmer’s market or pumpkin patch to find the most unique pumpkins. For instance, the pumpkins with the “witchy warts” have to be my favorite this year and they were perfect for the spooky back door decor!
For the wreath, I simply layered the twig wreath with a fall floral piece I had and then topped it off with a cute dollar store sign to greet our guests! I always love that large twig wreath for halloween… something so spooky about the way it fans out!
As you step inside our back door you’re greeted with a see-through fire place and I always enjoy decorating the mantle for every occasion. Seems like it looks different each year too.
We recently acquired this painting and I LOVE how moody it is and I thought it was the perfect centerpiece for this mantle even at Halloween time.
I love to use what we already have as much as possible when decorating for each season. You will rarely see me go out and buy a ton of new decor… although I’d love to sometimes! We try to be frugal, creative and minimal around here in terms of seasonal decor. I find it just forces me to be more creative!
However, if I do go out to buy new items, I look for pieces that will last for YEARS to come! Here’s a quick list of items I would invest in for go-to Halloween decor.
Items to add to your go-to Halloween decor collection:
- Crows
- Skulls
- Spiders
- Rats/Mice
- Bones
- Creepy Cloth
- Bats (which I so NEED!)
- Witches Hats
- Cauldrons
- Jars, Glass Bottles and Other “Witch’s Kitchen” Accessories
In the dining room, I kept it fairly simple with some candles (which are my favorite this time of year), some bones in a bell jar and some spooky florals and pumpkins. I love adding the creepy cloth and spider webs to the chandelier to bring it altogether!
REAL LIFE: Our toddler already broke one candle and no, I do not light the candles usually. We have three kids and this area would be way too much of a fire hazard to leave those lit for long! Haha!
I do however, light my Apple Butter candle nearly every night! LOVE, LOVE it! I’ll link it HERE for you if you’re interested in trying it out. It’s my favorite one this season!
In the kitchen, we have open shelving all on one side so I’m always decorating them for the season. I went all out for Halloween here with pumpkins, webs, witchy bottles and potions, skeletons, old books, and spiders.
You can see how I utilize some pieces in each season like the black cast iron dutch oven. I just tossed in some bones and webs and voila… we have a witch’s cauldron!
It’s my favorite at night because of the warm halloween lights! I often plug these in on dark, rainy mornings too. Did I mention just how much I LOVE OCTOBER?! haha!
Outside the front door, I have my little pumpkin head scare crow. Isn’t he the cutest! I acquired him a couple years ago at a fall festival. He’s handmade by a local artisan! My favorite way to shop!
That wraps up our Halloween farmhouse tour! I hope you found some inspiration for your home! Remember, keep it simple, have fun and get creative! Turn on the spooky music, light the candles, pour a warm cup of coffee and savor the wonderful month of October!
Stop by again soon, friend!
