Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I thought I’d share some decorating inspiration, motivation and DIY’s with you. Come along and decorate with me for Valentine’s Day 2022! We’ll be doing some simple DIY’s and getting creative with what we have on hand!
Valentine’s Decorate With Me Video:
Valentine’s Day Farmhouse Kitchen Decor:
The theme for my Valentine’s Day decor in my kitchen this year could be best described as “Baking is Love”.
I added pops of the traditional red and pink throughout my open shelving and got a little creative with some items around my kitchen to incorporate the must-have X’s and O’s of the holiday!
Next, I grabbed two rolling pins from my baking stash and tied them together with baker’s twine to create one of my “X’s”. I then tied together some vintage whisks to complete the XOXO design.
This was a very quick DIY to decorate the space.
I find it unexpected and one of those details you might not notice right away until you stop to look at the space more closely and let the layers of design unfold before you.
DIY Red Heart Felt Garland for Valentine’s Day:
The next DIY I tackled was a quick and simple red heart garland made with some leftover felt fabric from my little red riding hood tutorial.
I cut out several hearts in various shapes and sizes. I liked that they weren’t uniform but you could definitely follow a pattern for this to keep your hearts consistent throughout.
Next, I took a needle and some thread and began to connect the hearts into a garland.
I poked my needle in and out of each heart for only one stitch apiece (but again you could add more stitches on each one for more detail if you’d like). I’m usually pressed for time on these projects and the simpler the better it seems!
I left the thread on the spool as I worked to gather up all of the hearts onto my string. Then, I laid them flat and spaced them out until I had the length of garland I was going for.
To finish it off, I simply cut the thread and tied a knot at both ends to secure the hearts onto the garland thread.
I thought it added a nice, warm pop of red to the Valentine’s Day display!
Valentine’s Day Rustic Living Room Decor:
Going with the same XOXO theme, I moved into the living room to decorate our fireplace mantle for Valentine’s Day. I found and repurposed some old barn wood from our farm and tied the pieces together just as I had done to the whisks and rolling pins in the kitchen.
If you watch the “Decorate with me” video you’ll see I did about three variations of this mantle before getting it the way I wanted!
Sometimes that is just how it goes, isn’t it? The creative process can be very messy along the way!
I ended here because I liked how the mirror backdrop added an extra layer of interest and pulled more light into the space to make the XOXO pop a bit more off of the tonal stone fireplace.
I added in this sign we’ve had since our wedding (nearly 10 year ago now… hard to believe). This phrase is near and dear to us and a great theme for this mantle.
I thought it fit nicely with this old engagement photo of my husband and I since I’m hugging him “around the neck.” I finished off the space with candles here on the mantle and also on the adjacent dining room table.
