How to make banana bread:
- Mash up 3-4 ripe or overly ripe bananas. The more brown spots, the sweeter they will be!
- Mix together with one cup of sugar. Yes, this is a sweet bread! Such a treat!
- Add your vanilla, baking soda, melted butter and one egg.
- Mix well and then add in the flour.
- Optional: Complete your bread with walnuts or chocolate chips if you prefer.
- Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour or until a toothpick runs clean.
- Top immediately with the sweet glaze icing (see recipe below)
How to make sweet glaze:
- Melt the remaining 3 tablespoons butter.
- Mix in about a half cup of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
- Add a splash of milk to thin if needed. If too thin, keep adding powdered sugar until you get the right consistency.
The sweet glaze will melt over the top but will set up after the bread cools. It’s definitely the icing on the cake! YUMMY!
