My mom and sister hosted a baby shower for me this past weekend! It was so much fun getting baby stuff!
I feel like most first-time-moms are very focused on the nursery, organizing and getting everything perfect before their bundle of joy arrives…
Meanwhile, I’m over here with a cardboard box full of random things I’ve collected over the last seven months. A book, a dress (even though I have no idea of the gender), some free nursing pads and diapers I acquired through the hospital and birthing classes, and some figurines for the babies’ room (real necessities, haha!).
We’ve been so busy trying to get out house renovations underway, we have hardly had time to reflect on the fact that we will soon be parents!
We are going to be responsible for another life?!
It set in for me more this weekend after receiving so many thoughtful and useful gifts from family and friends! It set in even more as I watched Dan open another gift last night. I got to open so many at the shower, I thought it should be his turn! 😉
He reached into the tissue paper and pulled out three little, itty-bitty, onesies. I smiled as I saw his face light up. He said it’s hard to believe we are going to have a little one to fill these soon! I could tell he was excited to snuggle already!
On the day of the shower, I had my sister take a few pictures of me since most of my photos so far are mirrored selfie shots! I thought it would be nice to have a few more worthy of a scrapbook someday.
32 weeks and counting…
Copper was ready for the photoshoot as well!
What a ham…
My mom did such a great job on the shower. Her decorations and sweets were so adorable… and delicious too! Thanks mom!
Also big thanks to my mother-in-law for making awesome punch and my sister for helping with the last minute details! Everything turned out perfect!
The theme was “Sweet Surprise” since we left the gender of our baby a surprise…and because I’m addicted to sweets! 🙂
It was a neutral, yet colorful table with pink and blue thrown in here and there…
There was a treat of every kind for every one!
What I wouldn’t give to dig into that again this afternoon! YUM!
I can’t wait to go through all the gifts again! Unfortunately, until the house is done they can’t be put away into a fully prepped and organized nursery. In the meantime, I’ll be snuggling with onesies (sizing them up to my belly for fit), smelling the baby shampoos, and reading tons of the new books for baby!
It’s my own way of “nesting” without a finished “nest.”
Thanks for stopping by!
