Why do the strongest cravings always set in when we are short on groceries?
If you have been reading this blog for awhile now, you know I have a serious sweet tooth! Unfortunately, it has only become more severe during my pregnancy.
I want a little something sweet… almost every day… don’t judge! 😉
I don’t buy ice cream for the house because I know I’ll eat it EVERY DAY! And I try my best to resist baking too much… because I’ll be the one eating it all! But sometimes you just NEED A COOKIE!
So let’s bake!
Wait… I don’t have butter…
AND I don’t have any sugar!?! What is the world coming to?
(insert ugly pouty face here and maybe a foot stomp because I’m three…)
Then, out of nowhere you remember… and it’s as if gray skies have parted and double rainbows shine their glorious colors… I HAVE FROZEN COOKIES!
Saved for a day such as this, I have homemade cookies awaiting my oven. I pop them out of the freezer, onto a baking sheet and at 350 degrees they transform to satisfy my strongest cookie craving in under 20 minutes!
A couple months ago I made a batch of “Mom’s Old-Fashioned Snickerdoodles” from the Online Sisterhood blog. They were delicious! I made quite a few so I froze half of the small cookie dough balls.
To freeze the cookie dough, roll into balls (as recipe guides you to do) then arrange on a cookie sheet lined with freezer paper. Stick them in the freezer for at least 20-30 minutes to harden. This will keep them from sticking together.
Then in a small tupperware container, with layers of freezer paper, place the cookie dough balls together (don’t pack them in tight). Also, use freezer paper between layers when stacking. Close the container, label and toss back into the freezer.
These are perfect for surprise dinners, last-minute desserts (when you only need a small batch – just grab one or two and bake!) or just serious-pregnancy-craving-days! 😉
When ready to bake, simply take out the amount you want and place on a greased baking sheet – no defrosting/thawing needed! Bake the frozen cookie dough balls for about 15-17 minutes at 350 degrees. Try this with your family’s favorite cookie recipes!
They turned out just as good as the fresh batch! No one would ever know, they had been in my freezer 20 minutes before!
Who needs to go grocery shopping when you have a stock-pile like this in your freezer?!
You have to give these a try! You can find the snicker doodle recipe here. I added an extra sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar on top of the cookies after they were done baking. It only seemed right!
Hope you all have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Oh my gosh- I know this is coming way too late but congratulations on your pregnancy!!!! I have such a sweet tooth now, I don’t even want to think about what it might be like when I’m pregnant 🙂 These cookies look delicious, as does the dough itself 🙂
