It’s been a long, messy road of renovations for the Rustic Honey showroom but I’m happy to say it is finally complete! This weekend I’ll be hosting a “grand opening” of sorts to mark the occasion!
PLEASE JOIN US! – SATURDAY, JUNE 14TH FROM 9-NOON – 4460 NE 800 RD, OSCEOLA, MO 64776
We (mostly Dan) worked tirelessly on this project since late January! We completely transformed one of our buildings to be my workspace/warehouse/showroom for Rustic Honey. I love how it has turned out!
It was fun to take a trip down memory lane as I dug up some of the photos from this project. Makes me appreciate all the handwork EVEN MORE!
When we moved back to the farmhouse full-time, we used this building for storage since our house is too small to fit everything… hence, the workout equipment…
The room was completely bare-bones, with the back wall only partially studded in.
Dan completely wired and insulated the room, finishing the dividing wall.
I’m always there to at least give positive support!
Shop class was not my strong suit.
Dan also tried to convince me before all of this that is NOT a carpenter!
I must have molded him by force because I think he did AWESOME! Unfortunately for him, I now have leverage when his honey-do list becomes longer with furniture and shelving ideas! Poor guy!
Next, we used sheeting to cover the walls. We were very fortunate to have some things from the previous owners that they had planned to use on the room. We used what we had to save money on the space.
You’ll notice the yellow heater and numerous layers of clothing in these photos as we took many snow days to work on the showroom… the unheated showroom… in negative degree temps last winter! BRRR!
I did lots of dancing to stay warm while Dan worked.
All jokes aside, I did help quite a bit! The worst job, standing atop (and I mean at the top-top) of a ladder holding long pieces of barn tin above my head for Dan to attach to the ceiling.
We were like trapeze artists that week… I cringe now because I didn’t know I was pregnant at the time! Yikes!
After the ceiling was complete, we were both so excited! Dan could finally mark a major accomplishment off the list and I could finally see it all coming together!
Along the way, we took any help we could get from Dan’s dad, Darrel. He used to build homes for a living and therefore had much more knowledge in this area. He helped Dan so much on this project!
Here they are sketching ideas for the loft…
And here is the loft beginning to take shape…
We used huge beams of rough cut lumber for the structure.
The finishing touches…
Darrel even created handmade pegs to fill the drill holes to mimic barn lofts in the days of old!
There is quite a gap in my photos here but we added paneling to cover the sheeting. It created a more uniform look for the walls.
Ready for a paint party!
My mom volunteered to help out with the painting. We ended up with extra help when the “lemonade and worms stand” showed up! We have such a great family!
After the primer…
And now…
Without further ado…
A SNEAK PEEK!!!
Sorry, there has to be a “PART 2”!
I’ll be back next week with more photos of the showroom and the grand opening!
BIG THANKS TO ALL OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY THAT HELPED WITH THE RENOVATION PROCESS!!!
Please come and visit with me tomorrow morning! I can’t wait to show you around!
