It’s been eight weeks now since we welcomed our new little one.
While part of me is excited to be working more again, the other part of me says to take it slow and continue enjoying these lazy summer days while they’re here. I yearn for more mornings in my recliner, snuggling with both of my boys… not thinking about work, or the dirty house, or the fact that I slept in again and didn’t work out. Haha! Those mornings are fading so quickly!
I don’t feel one ounce of guilt for all the mornings we slept in, the enormous amounts of ice cream I ingested (okay, I only regret that one when I’m working out, haha), my poor communication with the outside world, frozen dinners, hours of cartoons, and completely losing track of time and schedules.
It’s a blessing and a curse that I don’t have a “set date” to return to work. We are just gradually working our way into an all new routine. A new season. I’m blessed to have the best of both worlds… I’m just always working on that recipe for balance. Aren’t we all…
RECIPE FOR BALANCE:
Ingredients & Equipment:
- Priorities
- Purpose
- Routine
- Sleep
- Patience
- Grace
- Love
Directions:
Set your Priorities.
Mix your purpose with your routine. Add in a little sleep, patience and grace. Top it off with lots of love! Adjust the ingredients to your taste.
NOTE: This will be a messy recipe so put on your apron and pull your hair back!
My recipe is off to a good start but like any recipe I write for the blog, it starts off as chicken scratch in my trusty notepad in the kitchen, goes through trial and error, mistakes and mishaps, and in the end the messiest pages hold the keepers. <3
So here’s to making a mess and finding new balance every day!
What ingredients would you add to your recipe for balance?
