Happy Friday friends!
Have you been showing your budget who’s boss this week?!
I’m proud to say I actually haven’t spent much at all yet. However, grocery shopping is on my list of to-do’s for the weekend so I’m getting a list ready and my envelope with cash! I have been using several different tools this week for my budget and wanted to share them with you today!
5 Tools For Budgeting Success:
- DIY Cash Envelopes: I’m cutting out credit card spending this month and relying on a cash envelope system to track my expenses in several categories. You can find all the details and how to make your own DIY cash envelopes in this post.
- Free Budget Printable: For all categories of my budget, I am still keeping track of spending and bills with this free printable chart.
- Well Spent App: I also downloaded an app called “Well Spent.” It allows you track your purchases and gives you a look at your available budget at all times. You set up as many budget categories as you like, give them a name, color, amount and set the time (monthly, weekly, etc). You then input transactions throughout the month and it will track everything for you. It is so quick and easy, I promise! You can view a short video about Well Spent here. It feels like a cash system to me and I love how you can see how many days are left in the month. I find it motivating!
- Walmart Savings Catcher App: A friend told me about this one and said it has worked for her. You scan your Walmart receipts (within seven days of purchase) and the app will look to see if any other retailers in your area are offering a lower price. If they find a lower price than what you paid, you will get the money back on a Walmart gift card. It’s an easy way to save a little more so I tried it out. I’ve only scanned one receipt so far and didn’t get any savings back but it’s easy and I figure I have nothing to lose! The app also shows rollbacks, weekly ad savings, etc.
- Retail Me Not App: I also downloaded the Retail Me Not app. You can choose your favorite retailers, restaurants, and companies and the app will show you all of the advertised savings. It’s like having all your email coupon codes and deals sent straight to one app! I haven’t cashed in on any deals yet, not that some of them weren’t tempting, but I have been checking them regularly to see if any fit our needs this month. Speaking of which, Ren may NEED a few more onesies. Do they make big and tall size for babies?! Ha! 🙂
I’m also working at finding better coupon deals, brainstorming free date night ideas, and gathering up some recipes for homemade household items. I hope to share some of these with you in the weeks to come!
