We were hit pretty hard with a summer storm last week. Wind threw large branches onto our roof, flattened our garden, and made for some extra cleanup chores around the yard.
Just our luck.
Luckily, the damage to the roof was the worst of it!
Our garden was doing so well before the storm came through and flattened it.
Just our luck.
The rain and sunshine has helped our garden to bounce back pretty well. Now I have green beans out the wazoo and need to get to the chore of canning!
Just my luck.
Luckily, we’ll have a full pantry again this winter!
A dead tree fell during the storm next to the old barn.
Just my husband’s luck… more wood to chop.
Luckily, now we’ll have plenty of firewood and I’m happy to say the good ole barn still stands!
A large limb damaged our roof during the storm.
Just our luck.
Luckily, it didn’t take out any windows or completely damage the walls of our home!
It sure was a LARGE limb!
Luckily, I have a handy husband and a cute little helper!
Now we are ready for a bonfire!
All in the same week our house was hit by the storm, truck broke down, and the air conditioner quit in my shop! You know… that kind of week when nothing can go right?
Just our luck.
Luckily, I know we aren’t unlucky at all. We have a roof over our heads, we have our health, and most of all we have each other.
Sometimes the little things get us down and make us feel like our luck has run out! Take a step back. See that glass for what it really is…
HALF-FULL!
At the end of what seemed to be an “unlucky” week, my son was playing barefoot in the yard and I noticed something caught between his little toes. To my surprise it was a four-leaf-clover!
Perfectly nestled between his toes to remind me just how lucky we really are!
Just our luck!
Luckily, it’s all in how you look at it.
Luck is a relative term and our perspective is a blessing.

I love this article!! Mom raised me to always think “it could always be worse”. At the time, I hated what I thought was lack of sympathy but now I can appreciate being able to see good in the bad times. Thanks for sharing!
