Simple and easy iced coffee you are sure to love! Seriously just as good as those expensive ice coffees we all love to buy! Now you can make your own treat!
Who’s ready for fall?!
All at once, I feel like summer mode has faded away into a busy fall routine around here! It makes me happy and a bit sad all at the same time.
I had to remind myself today that the clock and calendar do in fact move at the same pace in the fall as they do in the summer… I just need to slow down and be in the moment more often instead of running around like a crazy fool talking about how I just need more time!
If only we had more time!
Speaking of more time… I’ve had a blog post draft started for about three weeks now about how I don’t want summer to go! I wanted to recap all of the fun memories from the summer and now I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll ever finish it.
Writing in my calendar now… “go back to blogging about summer…”
Anyway, it has been an eventful month so far! We had a fun day at the shop on Second Saturdays celebrating our award as MO Mobile Boutique of the Year! Woop! woop! (praise hands!) 😉
I had made some ice coffee as our treat for the day. And so many of you loved it, I thought I would share what I did here on the blog!
Iced Coffee
First off, I have to say I began with this recipe at Craving Comfort.  Be sure to visit her site for those tips as well! Here is her original PIN to so you can repin her version on your Pinterest boards.
I was skeptical and probably a bit brave to make this for the first time for a group of people but hey, my customers are awesome and would totally understand if I flopped! We would at least have a good laugh about it I’m sure!
Nonetheless, I braved the Pinterest world and gave it a whirl! I loved how it turned out! I was impressed with how it ACTUALLY tasted like an iced coffee I would buy somewhere… LIKE PAY ACTUAL DOLLARS FOR! Haha!
Making the cold brew was the most complicated part but so worth it! If you want this to be super-easy, I would just buy some cold brew packets online or if your local grocery store is fancier than ours, maybe grab one there so you don’t have to rig something up like I did!
The cream is of course what makes this out-of-this-world-dog-gone-good! Treat yo-self! You won’t regret it!
What you’ll need for the cold brew:
- Cheese cloth (also maybe not something you would have on hand – instead use coffee filters, fine mesh strainer, paper towels – do what you have to for coffee!)
- Strainer
- 12-14 oz Coffee grounds (course grounds if you can find – don’t worry, my store wasn’t “fancy” enough for the either and it worked just fine)
- Water (about a gallon)
- Large bowl and pitcher
For the cream:
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 1/2 c. whole milk
OR
- Your favorite seasonal creamer ( I have not tried this yet but I’m almost certain this cold brew would be amazing with some pumpkin spice creamer!)
- Add chocolate if you’d like as well!
Don’t stress too much on amounts. Just make this recipe to your taste!
Directions:
- Soak the coffee grounds in the water. I soaked them overnight but I suggest at least 8 hours.
- Combine the milks in a mason jar, shake and refrigerate overnight as well to chill.
- Filter the grounds out of the water using a strainer and cheese cloth. Pour into a pitcher for serving
- To serve, fill a mason jar with ice, top with cold brew coffee about three-quarters of the way full and top off with the creamer. Stir and enjoy! YUM!
- NOTE: For shoppers that didn’t want a strong coffee, I just added a bit of water to their cold brew concentrate and added a bit more cream. 😉
I hope you’ll give this a try! Let me know what you think or any other combination ideas you may have! You know I LOVE coffee and would love to try out your ideas as well! This is definitely something I’ll have to serve again soon at the showroom!
See you here again soon! Hopefully with the deets on this here outfit above!
New fall arrivals go live tomorrow at 9 am (CST) on shoprustichoney.com 😉
