These individual fried ice cream dessert shooters are perfect for your next party! Mason jars layered with ice cream, cinnamon cereal, chocolate & caramel!
Ren has really been interested in helping in the kitchen lately! He’s so curious! He helped me put together these fried ice cream dessert shooters for our Father’s Day celebration last month.
The ice cream was safe until Daddy came along and clued him in on how delicious it was… at 10:00 AM!
Then the big scoop came out!
They do say you should taste as you go…
Fried Ice Cream Dessert Shooters:
Begin by crushing your cereal into course crumbs. (Possibly Ren’s best skill in the kitchen thus far!)
Toast the crushed cereal on medium heat with a little butter. Just dump it all in and stir it frequently to prevent burning. It will be wonderfully fragrant!
Meanwhile, drizzle some caramel and chocolate syrup into mason jars or small cups. I try to create a little design up the sides of the jar.
Scoop in some vanilla ice cream and top with the cereal crumbs. Then repeat that layer to fill your cups.
If not serving right away, cover the fried ice cream and place in the freezer. (I had to cover some of mine with plastic because I didn’t have enough lids on hand! I made these ahead for later that evening.)
When ready to serve, top with whipped cream, cherries and sprinkles!
Enjoy the smooth ice cream against the crunch of the cinnamon cereal! So tasty!
Tastes just like fried ice cream! But even better because you don’t have to fry anything! SO EASY!
Why does everything taste better from a mason jar?!
We packed up the dessert shooters in our cooler and headed for the water! We had a picnic with the family for Father’s Day and this was the perfect cool dessert for a hot summer night!
The night was complete with fishing, swimming, food and family!
Ribs… beer… ice cream…
I’m down with that!
Not a full mason jar in sight! I’m guessing they enjoyed them as much as I did!
Fried Ice Cream Dessert Shooters:
Ingredients:
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Caramel Sundae Syrup
- Chocolate Sundae Syrup
- Whipped Cream
- Maraschino Cherries
- Sprinkles
- Cinnamon Cereal (I used Cinnmon Toast Crunch), crushed
- 1/4 c. Butter
Directions:
- Crush the cereal into course crumbs or pulse in a food processor.
- Melt the butter on medium heat and add the crumbs. Toast until fragrant and golden.
- Drizzle chocolate and caramel into mason jars. Then layer with a scoop of ice cream and cereal crumbs. Repeat layers as desired adding more chocolate and caramel if you like.
- When ready to serve, top with whipped cream, cherries and sprinkles!
NOTE: I made these the morning of our party and froze them until firm. We packed them in a cooler full of ice and topped with whipped cream, cherries and sprinkles before serving.
I hope you’ll try this recipe soon! I’ll be making them again for sure!
Thanks for stopping by!

I was looking for recipes to serve when cooking for a youth event at our church. My plan for Tuesday was to serve build-your-own-Mexican (aka Taco Tuesday) and this looked like a great recipe for dessert. I tried it out the week before on my family. Of course, it was a go – they loved it. It was a hit with the youth as well. Thank you for the great recipe.
