Recent Storms
Mother Nature sure has been making me jumpy these past few days.
Over this past weekend we had a tornado touch down about two miles from our home. It tore through one home and took several barns in our neighborhood. Thank God everyone was okay despite the fact that the storm came without warning!
I was upstairs in our home working in my sewing room while Ren was napping. It was a typical rainy Sunday until the wind picked up so suddenly. It came fast and hard. I decided to head to the main floor of our home to check on Ren but by the time I reached the bottom of the stairs I realized this was no regular thunderstorm. I threw my coffee mug onto a dresser in Ren’s room and snatched up my sleeping baby all without waking him or spilling my coffee everywhere. I rushed to the basement, laid Ren down and started to call Dan. I crept back up the stairs for cell service and by the time I was halfway up the stairs the storm was over.
I started to second guess my panic and decision to take cover. I thought “oh, silly me… it was nothing.” However, minutes later I heard about the damage just south of our home.
We were lucky.
My brother-in-law lost his barn in the storm and we have one, large uprooted tree in our backyard along with several other branches and debris to clean up but we were definitely lucky and saying our prayers of thanks! Continued prayers to the Jones’ family who lost their home!
I’m afraid I’ll be a little more on edge for the remainder of this stormy season!
Foggy Farm Photos
I have had these photos on my camera for several weeks now. I managed to sneak out of the house one morning while the babe was still sleeping.
I couldn’t resist a foggy sunrise!
Mother Nature can be intimidating with strong, violent storms but yet so inviting with serene mornings such as this.
A pair of muck boots is required in this yard after house renovations!
I wish every morning could begin like this!
