FAQs

What kind of sausage do you use?

There are many types of ground sausage you can use. Often times your local grocer has a homemade ground sausage blend that is really good, I know ours does! You can also get unflavored ground sausage to season yourself or make your own sausage like many locals do with venison and pork mixture.

I don’t like biscuits, can I still make this country sausage gravy recipe?

Of course! Country sausage gravy is more versatile than it gets credit for. Besides biscuits, you could use it for:
Breakfast potatoes — Spoon gravy over crispy skillet potatoes or hash browns.
Mashed potatoes — Basically a country-style sausage gravy version of mashed potato comfort food.
Breakfast casseroles — Layer sausage gravy with eggs, cheese, and potatoes for a hearty casserole.
Toast — Simple country gravy over thick-cut toast makes an easy breakfast.
Eggs – A hearty and high-protein option for breakfast.
