Well, I had intended to write about the Herb Days Festival I attended on Memorial weekend before THE END OF JUNE!!! Where is time going these days!?!
Cindy, owner of Evening Shade Farms: Natural & Organic Body Care Products, told be about the festival and the participating vendors. I was so excited to attend as I had never heard about the festival before! The event was held at their farm next to their soap house where they create a natural and organic line of body care products.
My mother-in-law, Cindy, and I attended the festival together on that Saturday morning. We saw so many amazing booths filled with very unique items and craftsmen. We visited with some great people and saw so much one-of-a-kind merchandise!
I really enjoyed seeing all of the beautiful plants for sale and throughout the farm as we shopped the booths at the festival.
I enjoyed listening to the artisans talk about their craftsmanship. Linda (The Gift of Fiber) showed Cindy and I how she weaves rugs on a large circle loom. She told us the history behind it and how women would use the wheel from their covered wagons to weave. I really enjoyed learning the history behind her craft.
I also had the opportunity to speak with Hal (Pottery & Art Works) about his trade. He actually teaches art and has always been inspired by nature. Pottery seems to come naturally to him as I watched him create a few small pieces.
I found Hal’s story so interesting. He is currently participating in a cross-country bike race from Canada to Mexico! Did I mention he is 64 years old!?! I’ve been watching his status online and he has already gone over 650 miles! Please… give this man a standing ovation!
After visiting the booths, we stepped into the beautifully fragrant soap house to take a look around. The front counter was lined with numerous unique, organic soap bars of many colors, shapes and sizes. The store also showcased body and facial care products for the whole family including a small, special assortment for baby. I thought these beautifully packaged body care products would make amazing gifts!
Evening Shade Farms offers so many great products including but not limited to soap, body mists, body butter, essential oils, facial care products and even candles – all made locally here in southwest, MO!
They also carry a natural insect repellent that I need to order soon for our summer evenings outdoors! Mosquitos love me. Seriously, it is a smothering kind of love. I just tell people it is because I’m so sweet! HA!
