Homemade Cleaning Wipes

Homemade Cleaning Wipes

These homemade cleaning wipes are multi-purpose, all-natural and much cheaper than buying those disinfectant wipes all the time! Make your own at home with these simple ingredients!

The weather has been absolutely beautiful these past few days. The late October sun has been warm and refreshing but it has brought on a plague of Asian beetles upon our house! You know those little bugs that look like a cousin to the lady bug?

Cute, right?

They are stinky, pesky and swarm our house by the thousands! This is the time of year they try to come inside too. Most of them die in our home within 24 hours leaving me with stinky piles of bugs everywhere! The upstairs of our home is the worst!

Last night, I decided to wage war on the infestation! I’m sure it was a sight as I walked around with my vacuum cleaner, wand in hand, sucking up EVERY. SINGLE. LADYBUG. in my path!

After spinning around several times to catch the flying ones, I felt like ghostbuster! Haha!

It was intense! 😉

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent about the ladybugs! I’m praying for a good rainy day today… free of ladybugs!

I’ve been making some homemade cleaning wipes for a couple months now and finally feel like I have the right recipe! I use these handy wipes on my countertops, under Ren’s highchair, on my bathroom vanity, etc. They are multi-purpose, all-natural and much cheaper than buying those disinfectant wipes all the time!

Like many homemade cleaning products, you do have to invest a little upfront for the ingredients in bulk. I bought a lavender essential oil and some lavender pure-castile soap for this recipe. I had everything else on-hand.

  • 1 3/4 c. Water (I used tap because I go through quickly. If you plan to store these very long be sure to used distilled water)
  • 3 T. Dr. Bronner’s Lavender Castile Soap
  • 2 T. Vinegar
  • 8-10 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil
  • 1 Paper Towel Roll (I used Bounty Basic)
  • 2 Containers

I find it helpful to shake them after you pour the liquid in as well. It helps coat all the towels.

A couple things to note:

  1. If you use a thicker brand of paper towels, you may need to up the liquid amount!
  2. If you plan to store for very long, use distilled water instead of tap water!
  3. Use any scent you like! There are several castile soap scents and tons of oil options!
