DIY Budget Cash Envelopes With Free Template

DIY Budget Cash Envelopes With Free Template

Happy Friday!

Have you had a chance to start reviewing your expenses and building your budget for our March Budget Challenge?

It’s supposed to be another frigid and snowy weekend here in Missouri so I shouldn’t have any problem finishing up since we’ll be cooped up anyhow!

Let’s grab a coffee (if that’s your thing), your free printables, your bills, and crafting supplies and get comfortable by the fire this weekend. It won’t take long and soon we’ll be saving so much money we’ll wonder why we didn’t get the ball rolling sooner (like in January when it is customary to start new resolutions! haha!)

You and I are trendsetters, that’s all! 🙂

To make the easy DIY cash envelopes, you’ll need the following:

  • Pretty paper (I used 12×12 scrapbook paper I had in my stash – don’t spend extra money making a “budget” envelope!)
  • Scissors
  • Glue and/or tape
  • Free Template Printable
  • Pencil/Pen
  • Cash for each category envelope
  • Label Maker *optional

Let’s BUDGET!

First off, print and cut out my free envelope template.

Trace the template onto the back of your pretty paper. Note: You could also print directly onto your paper if you are using a standard sheet.

Cut out the traced template and fold.

Fold in the two wings, then fold up the bottom and top of the envelope.

Glue and/or tape the bottom closed. This will create a pocket to hold change. The pocket is also helpful with coupons!

I’m a firm believer that using my leftover change saves me money! Don’t lose those pennies; they will add up! 🙂

Cash will slide into the side of the envelope and change can be dropped into the pocket. Repeat for the rest of your envelopes.

Designate an envelope for each category you intend to pay cash for next month. Label your envelopes in someway. I wrote on the inside flap because I only have a few I keep them straight because they are different colors and patterns. You can write on them or use a label maker to make them nice and neat!

Next, divvy up your cash accordingly. Now you are ready for our monthly budget challenge. Remember, the cash you put in each envelope has to last you ALL MONTH! Spend wisely friends!

The template I made fits perfectly inside your standard wallet! My envelopes are always with me, filed to perfection! Haha!

I’m not that crazy, I promise!

I hope you have a little fun with this part of the challenge! I know I did!

Happy Weekend!
